New chapter, new leadership as PPA marks 42nd Founding Anniversary

MANILA, JULY 11, 2016—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is turning another chapter in its corporate life as it celebrates its 42nd Founding Anniversary today beaming with hope and pride with the entry of the new administration.

Armed with a new Vision that ‘By 2020, PPA shall have provided port services of global standards’, officers and staff, are ecstatic with this promise of better public service through reduced red tape in dealing with the agency resulting in more productivity and efficiency for the entire agency.

New PPA GM brings new work culture, buckles down to work right away

MANILA, JULY 4, 2016—Newly appointed Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Atty. Jay Daniel R. Santiago issued a marching order to all officials and employees to be transparent at all times and prioritize clients at any given time.

Right at the very first minute of work, Santiago also ordered all junior and senior officials of the state-owned agency to refrain from holding any kind of meeting during office hours or from 8AM to 5PM in order not to disrupt delivery of public service.

PPA to host 2nd PIANC-YP Com Asian Seminar

MANILA, APRIL 8, 2016—PIANC Philippines, through the Philippine Ports Authority, is hosting the 2nd PIANC YP-Com Asian Seminar to prepare the Young Professionals for future port developments.

To be held at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila, the event is expected to attract YPs from the different Permanent International Association of Navigational Congresses (PIANC) member economies along the Asia-Pacific rim.

Ph hosts 1st ASEAN Sustainable Port Development Network meeting

MANILA, MARCH 12, 2016—The Philippines, through the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), is hosting the first ever meeting of the Training Network for Sustainable Port Development (SPD) in the Asean region.

The meeting, which will be held at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila on March 15, will be attended by the different decision makers from the member economies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).

Ph, Jap join hands to promote disaster-resilient ports

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), in cooperation with the Japan Overseas Port Cooperation Association (JOPCA), held the second Ph-Jap Port Seminar for Disaster Prevention at the Manila Diamond Hotel on February 3, 2016.

The whole-day event, which also attracted several partner-agencies like the Department of Transportation and Communications, MLIT, OCDI, SCOPE, WAVE and CDIT and supported by JICA, was attended by close to 120 stakeholders—a combination of Japanese and Filipino delegates from the different participating agencies.

Raul T. Santos appointed as interim PPA General Manager

MANILA, 11 JANUARY 2015—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will have an interim General Manager starting today (Thursday), a familiar face, Raul T. Santos.

President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, signed the appointment papers of Santos Wednesday last week.

Santos will occupy the position for the unexpired term of erstwhile PPA GM Juan C. Sta. Ana who resigned last month due to personal reasons or until the President appoints a permanent GM. Sta. Ana is supposed to step down from office when a new administration takes over in July of this year.

Sta. Ana resigns as PPA General Manager

08 DECEMBER 2015, MANILA – Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana is quitting his post effective end of December 2015.

Sta. Ana handed his resignation to the President thru the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya last Friday, 04 December 2015.

In his letter of resignation to the President, Sta. Ana stated that “it is with heavy heart that he has decided to return to the private sector”.

PPA inaugurates state-of-the-art Tagbilaran Passenger Terminal Building


NOVEMBER 6, 2015—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has formally inaugurated its spanking new Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) in the Port of Tagbilaran to respond to the growing tourism traffic in the region. The Port of Tagbilaran is the main gateway to and from the province of Bohol. It also sustained severe damages when the 7.1 magnitude quake rocked the province in October of 2013.

Ports observe tighter security checks ahead of Halloween, APEC

OCTOBER 28, 2015, MANILA—A couple of days before the Halloween break, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has started to implement stricter security checks to complement the initiatives being imposed by the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime Industry Authority

The tigher security checks are also in preparation for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) meeting, which will be held in Manila on November 18-19, 2015.
