Consistent with its mission of providing the sea-travelling public with comfortable, hassle free and passenger friendly port facilities, state-run Philippine Ports Authority is continuously upgrading the various amenities in all of its key ports specially during this season where heavy passenger traffic is expected due to the upcoming opening of classes.
PPA General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana has directed its Port District and Port Management Managers nationwide to see to it that adequate facilities catering to the needs of the port using public are provided in all its Port Passenger Terminal buildings to include the availability of adequate and clean comfort rooms / rest rooms, nursing stations, diaper changing stations as well as special lane facility for pregnant women, children and persons with special needs. Included likewise in all of its efforts are the provision of efficiently operating baggage x-ray machines and walk through detectors in order to ensure the safety and security of the passengers and cargoes passing through our ports. “We are aware of the fact that the seaport is one area where we can positively promote making travel to and around the country smooth, seamless and convenient so that we will always strive to give our best effort to promote a hassle free and passenger friendly travel to our sea travelling public”, Sta. Ana furthered.
The PPA, has always stressed that in pursuance of its mission of providing efficient, appropriate and modern port facilities and equipment, the port agency continuously find ways to raise the level of efficiency in its port operations particularly on the areas of safety and security of the passengers and cargoes that pass through the sea ports. “In addition therefore to the facilities and amenities like the CCTV and adequate X-ray machines that are in place in the Passenger Terminal buildings in our ports to ensure the safety and security of the passengers and the mandatory implementation of the weighbridges to ensure that the vessel will carry only its corresponding capacity load limits, the PPA together with MARINA, PCG and OTS of DOTC are now developing a Passenger Boarding Monitoring and Control System through the E-Ticketing System which we hope to put in place in our port anytime soon”, GM Sta. Ana added. |
