§ Geographical
Location
The Port of Babak is one of the major ports in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCos), Davao del Norte and is currently being managed by its city government. It is one of the nearest and most vital links of the relatively smaller IGaCos to mainland Davao City. First established in 1960 with timber pier landing, it has come a long way to its present concrete piers replete with a Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) ramp designed to conveniently ferry outbound and inbound passengers and cargoes. Launches, ferryboats and pumpboats headed for Samal Island normally dock at Babak Port.

§ Anchorage
Vessels may anchor 125 meters off the pier end in 25 to 30 meters depth, mud bottom.
§ Navigational Approach
Much like Davao City, there is no other access to Babak Port except Davao Gulf. The first approach is through Pakiputan Strait and the second is between the east side of Samal and the coastline west of Davao Oriental toward the trip of the gulf.
§ Entrance Channel
Babak bound vessels pass through the Pakiputan Strait which lies in between Davao City and Samal Island.
