The Port Management Office (PMO) of Davao considers Sasa Wharf
as its baseport. PMO-Davao is situated on the southeastern coast of the
Mindanao Island and is known as the most progressive conduit of trade
and tourism in Southern Philippines and the largest market of the
Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area
(BIMP_EAGA). Currently, it wields regulatory control over 18 private
ports and several municipal ports in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Davao
del Norte and Davao Oriental. It also operates a terminal port in Mati,
Davao Oriental.
Sasa
Wharf is the principal domestic and international seaport for most
passengers and commodities of the Davao Region (Region-XI) and is
strategically located 10 kms. north of downtown Davao City. Known as
the most active port in Southern Mindanao, it links the Davao Region to
Hongkong, China, Singapore, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the
United States.
PMO- Davao is under the direction of PDO-Southern Mindanao together with the ports of General Santos, Cotabato and Zamboanga.
The
Port Management Office (PMO) supervises day-to-day operations of the
port; ensures the implementation of all PPA policies; systems and
procedures; provides safety and security of people, cargoes, and port
facilities ; ensures proper and efficient collection of all port
charges, fees, dues, and other income due the PPA; implement repair and
maintenance projects.
Person
in the fore is the Port Manager, who together with the senior staff
which is composed of Division Managers and Section Chiefs, coordinates
and supervises all port activities.
