GENERAL
INFORMATION
The Port of San Jose
is the main port serving Occidental Mindoro. Main commodities
include rock salt, palay, rice, seafood, tobacco, bulbs and
other agricultural products for outbound cargoes and cement,
fertilizers and general commodities for inbound cargoes.

The Port is
accessible via main national road. It is approximately 2
kilometers away from the town proper of San Jose.

Physical
environment/topography
Diurnal tide range:
1.13 meters; average tide level: 0.55 meters. Currents in the
vicinity of the harbor are strong in the southeastern direction
during flood and northeastern during ebb.

There is designated
anchorage and fairway at the port
· Pilotage – not
compulsory at the port
· Navigational aids:
it has a lighthouse at the approach to the port.

there is a covered storage warehouse at the port

technology and communication system – there are radio and
telephone facility inside the port
· Telecommunications
Landlines and
cellular based communications, cable tv, am/fm radio, internet
are available in the town proper.

security features
Port police and
private security agency provide security and law enforcement
within the port.

The Offices of
the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Department of Agriculture
Plant and Animal Quarantine Field Offices, and the Bureau of
Forestry.
· Berthing
facilities
There are four
berthing facilities at the port which includes the old pier on
concrete piles measuring 60 meters long and 14 meters wide
fendered by timber pile clusters and being used by wooden sea
crafts or batels.
· Roll-OnRoll-Off (Roro)

There are seven (7)
Roro ramps with the following dimensions/specifications:
1. 32m x 11m fixed
(protruding) with a depth of 5meters
2. 11m x 4m fixed
(built-in) with a depth of 5meters

This is being
handled by Prudential Customs Brokerage Services, Inc.(PCBSI),
which is the sole CHO at the port.

covered storage area measuring approximately 225 sq. meters is
available inside the port.

There are private
trucking/hauling service operators at the port with valid PTOs

The TMO has a
passenger terminal building with an approximate area of 300 sq.
m. with chairs, separate comfort rooms for men and women,
canteen and an adjacent vehicle parking lot.

for vehicle parking area inside the port.

forwarding
Shipping lines hold
booking/ticketing offices inside and outside the port while
Manila-based forwarders like LBC and JRS hold offices at the
heart of the town.

A host of government
and private commercial banks including rural banks abound
at downtown San Jose.

services
Cellular providers
Globe and Smart are present in the town. Digitel, on the other
hand, provides NDD and IDD services.
· Medical facilities
Government and
private hospitals and clinics can be found in the town proper.
· Necessary customs,
immigration, quarantine and health clearances
Animal and plant
quarantine are present inside the port.
· Nearest airport
The San Jose airport
which accommodates small to medium aircrafts including B737 jet
is about six kilometers from the port.

garbage contractors – there is a municipal garbage contractor
which does the collection of port garbage

Power source comes
from Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (OMECO) while
stand-by power comes from a PPA genset

nearest shipyards are located in Batangas City and in Manila.

· Water supply
The TMO obtains its
own fresh water supply from deep wells, with an underground
storage tank and a 16,000 liter capacity elevated tank made
possible by a pump house located inside the port.
