GENERAL INFORMATION
Roxas lies in the southern part
of the Province of Oriental Mindoro. It is located on geographical
coordinates latitude 12-35-30.00" N and longitude 121-30-45.00"E. It is
bounded on the north by the Municipality of Bongabong, on the east by Tablas
Strait, on the south by the Municipality of Mansalay and on the west by
portions of Mansalay and Bongabong. The Port of Dangay, Roxas is located at
approximately 148 kilometrs or roughly 2 ½ -3 hours drive away from the
City of Calapan. Like the Port of Calapan, it plays a vital role in the
Strong Republic Nautical Highway project of the government. It serves as
the gateway to the Visayas and the Mindanao being the gateway and jump-off
station for tourists and passengers southbound through the Caticlan jetty
port.
The town of Roxas is rich with
pasture lands, ricefields and quiet beach strips. It is famous for its
magnificent caves and spectacular mountain view.

Among the main productsucts
being handled in the Port of Dangay, Roxas are rice, rice bran, fruits,
vegetables, fish and home appliances.

Land access
The Port is accessible by land
travel for approximately 2 ½ to 3 hours. It is about one (1) kilometer
away from the Poblacion of Roxas.
Physical
environment/topography
Diurnal tide range: 1.13 meters;
average tide level: 0.55 meters. Currents in the vicinity of the harbor are
strong in the southeastern direction during flood and northeastern during
ebb.

agency inside the port.
The Philippine Coast Guard is
situated just outside the port premises.

There is a provision for a Roro
facility at the port of Roxas.

Maritime waste and garbage
collection -garbage collection in the port is in place in coordination with
the Municipal Government of Roxas for a minimal fee of Php50.00 payable to
LGU Roxas per pick-up of garbage.

This is being handled by PPA -
Roxas Port Services, a Special Takeover Unit (STU) of the PPA.
Trucking hauling service
There are private
trucking/hauling service operators at the port with valid PTOs for one
year.
Services for passengers,
shippers and the general public
Passenger terminal building
The TMO has a passenger terminal
building operated by Nautical Ports Management Services, Inc., (NPMSI)
with an approximate area of 160 sq. meters with gang chairs, separate
comfort rooms for men and women, feeding area for nursing mothers/diaper
changing area, water dispensers with hot and cold; television sets and air
conditioning units. Terminal fee is Php15.00 per head. There is a canteen
on the 2nd floor which is also operated by the NPMSI.
